General Health Profile

The General Health Profile provides a picture of your overall health, and is an excellent place to start your journey of self-discovery. This profile looks at your physical, mental, emotional and social health, as well as your own perception of your health. We tell you what you're doing well and what you need to improve, and we give you specific suggestions as to how to make needed changes. If additional tests would be helpful, we tell you which ones to have. If you could benefit from more thorough evaluation by one or more of our other assessments, we send you to the right place. So start here and enjoy the journey!

The output of the General Health Profile starts with an overall assessment of your current state of health. It takes into account objective measures of your health plus your own self-assessment. The latter is surprisingly important in predicting future health, as people tend to be quite accurate in estimating their current and future health status.

We then look at your medical history and comment on any past of current illnesses that you may have. You want to be sure that you are receiving the right treatment for any medical conditions.

The next section looks at laboratory test results such as cholesterol, if you know them. We comment on the levels of these tests as they affect your health, what to do to improve the results so as to maximize your current and future health.

Next we look at family history and its impact on your health. Certain conditions are influenced by genetics. It's important to know how your family history, which you can't change, is impacting your health. This way, you know where you need to focus on things that you can change.

Lastly, we look at elements of your lifestyle. These include diet, exercise, smoking, life satisfaction and stress. Each of them affects your health in important ways. And each of them is within your power to change, if need be. We tell you how far your lifestyle deviates from the ideal, and give you suggestions on how to get there.

Although it covers a lot of ground, the General Health Profile is not a complete and exhaustive examination of your health. That would require a much longer assessment, which still could not possibly cover everything. So while the General Health Profile gives you a good overview of your health, remember that is just a starting place. We have many other assessments that take you further in specific areas, may of which we specifically recommend within the General Health Profile.
